Literacy and getting young people involved in reading is a passion of mine, as is encouraging people to take up creative writing. I can give one-on-one tuition on general literacy, help prepare for journalism or English exams up to degree level and I also lead creative writing courses for arts festivals. I have worked with the charities Youth at Risk and Fairbridge as a mentor, encouraging creativity in print and multimedia. I am currently working on a literacy programme for the charity Kids Company and writing workshops for an arts festival. My speciality is news-related sessions, encouraging interest in the news, understanding of news media and our role in it and also helping to see the news in their own life stories, leading to their own creative writing.
